Nuclear power critic reverses stance, calls for re-activating Crystal River plant to nuclear status!

Prior to a 45 minute interview on October 11th by the Citrus Chronicle newspaper’s 9-member consumer and staff Board, for endorsement consideration to be released next week, candidate Brian Patrick Moore was video-tapped for 4:59 minutes by the newspaper which they posted on YouTube the following day, October 12th.

During the interview Moore indicated for the first time, that as a former critic of the Nuclear Power Crystal River plant, he has changed his mind and now supports the idea of re-activating the plant, if feasible, to nuclear energy status.

Moore said he bases his new posture "on the realization that the transition from fossil fuel to clear power sources, will not be achieved in time for expected power demands in the near future.”

Moore is basing his change of heart on several factors:

Some clean energy source groups are now changing their anti-nuclear power posture to a recognition that it is a clean source of power, with minimal storage problems;
Moore’s reading of his home-state of California extending the operations of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in San Luis Obispo County (Avila Beach area) for at least five more years due to increasing power needs;
the presence of a Green Party outlier group that has been advocating for more nuclear power;
Moore’s recognition that renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy are although generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel sources, but
1. are still not totally reliable as power grids become more complex.
